Elżbieta Wasiuczyńska

Polish painter and children’s books illustrator. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow [pl. Kraków]. In 1991 she got a diploma in J. Joniak’s Studio of Painting, and in 1994 in Prof. R. Banaszewski’s Studio of Book and Typography, honored with the Rector’s Award.

She’s recieved numerous awards and honorable mentions, such as the honorable mention in the Pro Bolonia competition in 2011, for the illustrations to the stories of ‘Mr. Kuleczka’ by Wojciech Widłak, honorable mention in the Świat przyjazny dziecku [eng. a child-friendly world]  competition for the book ‘Bajka o ślimaku Kacperku’ [eng. story of Casper, the snail] by Małgorzata Strzałkowska, ‘Bronze medal’ International Calendar Exibition Stuttgart 2006 for illustrations to „My first calendar Heye”, honorable mention in the Book of the Year 2007 PS IBBY competition for the illustrations to the ‘ZOO’ book by Jarosław Mikołajewski, and the grand graphic prize in the same competition in 2009 for the author’s original book ‘Mój pierwszy alfabet’ [eng. my first alphabet]. The eight volume of the famous series, ‘Mr. Kuleczka. Treasure’, was awarded by readers with a title of the Book of the Year in the Empik’s competition Przecinek i Kropka [eng. comma and period].

The textile concepts for Endo company designed by Elżbieta Wasiuczyńska are currently in the Collection of Designs by the National Museum in Warsaw. The artist is collaborating with the ‘Świerszyk’ magazine for children.
